As I understand you have tried to make a copy from the printer and unfortunately this has not helped to resolve this issue, this clearly indicates a possible hardware failure.

Please send me the country/region you are contacting us from via a private message, And I shall help you with the information.

Please ensure the scan resolution as suggested at my previous post, the button will not be clickable when the scan resolution is higher than 300 DPI..

I have an error code OXB8000508.  All of the lights are flashing.  When I turn the printer off and turn it back on the error code is gone & the printer works OK.

Same issue I have with MFP M281fdw.

I know it's a different model, but it is interesting to me that this is a wider problem.

Spent about 2 hours with suppport (at times, given the completely random steps they were taking, if felt like a "deterrent" rather than an attempt to help). After all that they decide to send a replacement printer. The new printer has THE SAME problem.

Any fix yet?

Hi,

Would you mind an update on your resolution?

I have the same issue (skewed scans) and I already had a replecement printer sent and the new one has the same problem, and I don't know what else to do. :)

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing the same problem.

Unfortunately, I've resigned myself to scanning pages one-at-a-time when the scan needs to be professional, which is most of the time.  Due to the lack of response from HP, it's probably a manufacturing flaw that cannot be overcome with a software patch (but that's complete speculation on my part).

Trying to scan we are getting the results you can see in the attached picture,

no matter what we scan, even with nothing on the glass, both with the lid open and close.

We tried the HP Scan Doctor with no luck so here we are.

Any help on how to troubleshoot this will be very welcome.

Thank you for stopping by the HP forums. I understand that you are facing issues ADF paper jams on the printer. I will be really glad to assist you here. :)

Great description and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. :) You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you with it. I take it as a privilege to share this.

For better clarity, I would require more information regarding this to assist you?

  • Is the printer connected directly to the wall outlet bypassing power strips?
  • Have you hard reset the printer?
  • Have you tried to clean the ADF pickup rollers and clean the ADF and scanner glass strip
  • Have you tried to make a copy from the ADF?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

For a start please perform these steps:

  • Please try to make a few copies directly from the ADF and check if there are any jams or errors related to paper jams.
  • Make a few copies directly from the flatbed also.

Next thing, I would suggest you try these steps here:

Clear the paper jam from the automatic document feeder

Follow these steps to clear a paper jam from the automatic document feeder (ADF)

  1. Press the Power button to turn off the printer.

  2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  3. Remove any originals from the document feeder tray.

    Figure : Remove any originals

    Image: Remove any originals.
  4. Lift the cover of the ADF until it stops.

Figure : Lift the ADF cover

    Image: Lift the ADF cover.
  5. Check for any jammed paper in the rear of the ADF.

  6. Gently grasp any jammed paper in the ADF with both hands, and then pull the paper slowly but firmly upward to remove it.

  7. Lift the tab located on the front edge of the ADF to raise the ADF mechanism.

  8. Gently grasp any jammed paper in the ADF mechanism, and then pull the paper slowly but firmly upward to remove it.

  9. Close the ADF cover.

Clean the automatic document feeder

If the product picks up more than one sheet of paper from the automatic document feeder (ADF), clean the rollers and the separator pad in the ADF.

Step one: Clean the separator pad and rollers

  1. Gather the following materials:

    • A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that will not come apart or leave fibers

    • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the product)

  2. Remove any documents from the document feeder tray.

Figure : Remove documents from the ADF

Image: Remove documents from the document feeder tray
  3. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.

  4. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  5. Lift the cover of the ADF until it stops.

    2. The ADF rollers

    3. The ADF separator pad

  6. Find the separator pad.

  7. Lightly dampen a clean lint-free cloth with distilled or bottled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  8. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the separator pad.

  9. Find the ADF pick rollers.

Figure : The ADF pick rollers

  10. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers.

  11. Dry the rollers and separator pad with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.

  12. Close the ADF cover.

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues related to your HP DeskJet printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Did you try to clean the scanner glass?

Is it Vertical lines or horizontal lines?

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

You can also update the Firmware, you can directly update the printer firmware from the printer control panel or download the software from our HP support website,

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.  You might need a Windows PC to run the firmware.

For more details on how to update the printer firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Alternatively, you can go through the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Printers - Resolving Copy Problems

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

I am having problems with the scanner, scanning the pages / documents straight.

I top load the documents, the documents are detected, and they are scanned thru, but when i go to look at the documents, the pages are crooked, (Very Crooked).

Can somebody please tell me how to correct this problem, so that my document / pages will scan straight.

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.Just for information some technical information is protected by HP and is not allowed to be answered. This is unfortunate and you will have to contact a HP repair shop for the help in this case.

I apologize for jumping in on this matter, but it might be a firmware related problem.Download the latest firmware and try if that might help.Or if the machine is connected using wifi it could be that the signal is bad and let you loose data.Hope this will help.

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums.  After reading your post I see that you need assistance regarding issues with Scanning. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. :)

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try other methods to scan from the computer?

For now, try these steps:

  • Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://hp.care/2h5uT8b by following instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer

Then uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these step by step instructions:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2pUmdm1 and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix the issue.

If the issue continues, then try the HP scan and capture app by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2fAFYxE (HP Printers - Using the HP Scan and Capture App (Windows 8 and 10) to download, install and use this app with relevant FAQs.

Now check if the issue gets resolved. This should do the trick for you.

If the issue persists, please perform  the prescribed steps from this link: https://hp.care/2xCdCWU (HP Printers - USB Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

  • Step 1: Restart the computer and printer – important step
  • Step 2: Check the USB connection
  • Step 5: Check for any installed printer devices in Windows – important step
  • Step 7: Check Windows Image Acquisition settings -important step
  • Step 8: Set Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) dependencies – Important step
  • Step 9: Try scanning workarounds

Try these steps.

This should work for you.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.  Please note that I am not overloading you with steps but instead, giving you more information to work with.

We are as eager as you are to get the issue fixed. I request you to perform all these steps till the issue is fixed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. :)

just purchased a knew all in one 8715 printer, set it up for the first time. Started checking the different functions, and tried to fax. I got a communication error 345 during the fax trans mission.

I had some comms problems, loaded new driver and scanner stopped working

Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you found a fix working over wifi.  I have tried Easy Scan and although the printer name is at the top of the Easy Scan dropdown Easy Scan when you press print simply says it can't find the machine. The machine does however appear in the printer list on my computer and if chosen will print!  Any thoughts.

Hi,

from the printer tap Fax, then Setup and then Preferences.

Turn off Error Correction mode by toggling the button to 0

Tap Fax Speed and then tap Slow and confirm

Now check for any difference while faxing.

If the same issue remain contact your phone service provider, such an error is a result of non-quality phone line condition:
