hp 1210 multifunction (print/scan/copy) scan problem

My scanner is just scanning the top 2 inches or so of the page I put into it to scan.  I don't know what to do.  The 12210 is a not a new or nearly new piece of equipment.  I don't know if I need to reset something or if it's broken.
