Hi Spencer-
I assume you're using the latest software (14.5) available from the web for your G4050. I also assume you're attempting to scan multiple photos from the flatbed? If so, can you confirm you are doing the following:
- From the main HP Scanning screen, you are choosing the shortcut for "Picture To File".
- You have your filetype set to JPG. There is a defect where if you choose TIFF, it will not create individual files, rather it will create a multipage TIFF, so make sure you use something other that TIFF
- Under Advanced Picture Settings, you have "Scan multiple photos to individual files" selected
- You have "Show a Preview Scan" selected.
If you scan using this setup, it will scan your flatbed and show a preview of your photos you have. It should take a stab at auto-detecting the individual photos and providing selection areas around them. You should be able to adjust the selection areas and add new ones if necessary.
Once you click on "Finish", it will scan all the individual regions to individual files. When it is complete, it will put up dialog that prompts for "done" or "Scan". If you click on Done, all the files should show up in the folder you specified.
