To The EXPERTS ON 10 SEPTEMBER 2013 PLEASE HELP!
I am unable to scan with my All-In-One c4250 scanner. It has worked perfectly since Oct 2006, then last week I first receive an error message: An error occurred communication with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly & try again. I check and then try to scan again.
Next I recieve an error message: Instructing me to power off and power on and try again. I do so and the last error message I receive is: The function you have requested cannot be performed because another program already has control of the device. If the program currently using the device, save any unsaved work, close the program & try again.
FYI, I have no other programs running when I get these errors.
I have tried un-installing and reinstalling using the online Complete Software & driver download.
I tried the Print & Scan Doctor and got the same error message that "another program already has control etc" as stated above.
The bar on scanner bed seems to only go about half way and then stop when I get the last error message.
My printer works fine.

OS Windows XP Pro w/service Pk 3
My Connection is Hardwired Lan & using USB cord to connect the all-in-one printer/scanner.
I just purchase for my husband the Photosmart 6520 e-all in one and will just network to his new one if my problem can't be solved, but I am hoping "THE EXPERTS" TODAYcan help solve my problem so am able to con't with my own scanner.
I also have a question about the new Photosmart 6520 e-all-in-one I just purchased. Rregarding the eFax feature and how that works. On the Set up eFax sheet. #1 states to "Enable web services and have your ePrint address handy." Does that statement mean connect to the internet? and what is my ePrint address mean?
