Hello Bailhay, 

 

To my understanding its a printer hardware issue and its time to get a new printer loaded with new technology, but you may try the below steps...

 

  1. While the printer ON, Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove the cartridges.
  3. Manually slide the carriage from Right to Left and then  Left to Right.
  4. Close the Cartridge access door. 
  5. Unplug the Power Cord from back of the printer while the printer is ON.
  6. Unplug the USB cable from back of the printer.
  7. Wait for 30 seconds.
  8. Plug in the power cord to the printer. The
  9. printer should Power ON automatically, else press the ON button to power it ON. 
  10. Connect the USB Cable to the Printer.
  11. Now try making a COPY and check if there is any improvement in printing speed.
  12. Also try to print and check the speed.

If issue still persists, call HP Tech Support and check if you can get a Trade-In Option for a better model.
