I've owned this printer for five years with no problems. Any time the ink runs low I start to see the faded print-outs and start to get the warning message of "ink low". This time the ink strength was fine and there were no warning messages re the ink level.
Yet, when I put a sheet of paper to copy on the glass and then select the Copy button, the printer acts as if it's making a copy but only produces a blank sheet of paper. It's not hooked up to a computer, so it's not related to networking.
I'll buy new ink cartridges but I suspect the ink cartrideges are not the problem.
I spoke with a staff member at Office Depot recently. He said that many printers use the color cartridge to print out black and white copies - and that if the color cartridge is low then it doesn't print anything - so he suggested i buy a new color cartridge. I never use the color cartridge but he said it could be low because the printer pulls from the color cartridge to make the black and white copies. Is this true? Anyone have any comments on this problem?
Thanks for reading and considering a response.
