thanks for taking up this challenge!
Scan quality (either by copying on flatbed or scanning via ADF) seems quite normal.
During the initial and subsequent setup attempts, I've reset the 6310 to factory default from its control panel a couple of times.
When the scan has been requested from the scan now button - with a document on the flat bed, the only way to regain control is by a hard power-off. (Even the power on/off button is unresponsive)
I probably haven't left it powered down for as long as 60 seconds - so could be that any bootRAM is not resetting.
I seem to remember that the device received a firmware update on the first day I worked on it - I wonder if this has a partial corruption? If this is a possibility, I presume a semi-full reset will reinstall the firmware?
I'm not due to get to see this printer for a week or so, and I'd like to hear any other ideas you have.
