Have a new Photosmart 7520 connected wirelessly with a fixed IP. Have manually entered the Google DNS IPs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Am unable to initiate a scan from or to my Windows 8.1 desktop - keep getting the communication can not be established error; but am able to print fine.
Both the Shell Hardware Detection and Windows Image Acquisition services are started, set to automatic, and set to use the Local System Account, and Allow service to interact with Desktop.
Have also noticed that I am unable to use any of the web services from the printer itself.
Have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and it stops at the 'Driver Check' step.
Have rebooted and reinstalled and rebooted, etc., etc. to no avail. Have noticed via the forums that this is an extremely common problem with these printers, and that someone has the solution but is afraid to post it on the public forum for some reason. I would like to know the solution, and what HP is doing to remedy these problems with their equipment.
