There are 4 or 5 different ways to do a scan on the 8600, so knowing how you do your scans would help better understand what the issue. A simple way to see if the scanner is working is to do a scan on the control panel, press the scan icon and scan to a usb stick or memory card (there are card slots and a usb port on the 8600), if you can see the scanned images, the scanner is working. If the saving to file on the computer is leaving blank files, might be due to memory size, file system, software, etc. more details are necessary to help diagnose the issue. Could you share:
1. how was the scan done, i.e. from an app on a computer, or from the printer's control panel?
2. if from the computer, or from the control panel, send to computer, what is the OS and version of the computer?
3. what app was used to open these saved files?
