You're welcome, and thank you for the quick reply/update! I'm glad we know the scanner is working/communicating, that is a good sign, now we just need it to work with the HP software :)
To do this, I will suggest that you reset your printing system once more, and again don't add the printer back just yet, then I'd like you to follow this Uninstalling the Printer Software to get the printer software uninstalled and then download the software from the HP website to reinstall. Once that is done the HP Scan program should be able to communicate with the scanner.
