I understand you are unable to save your scans.
I will be happy to help you.
Open up the HP Solution Center Software and click the home button at the bottom.
Click on the Scan Document button.
Click on change settings.
Click on Save to file Save Options.
Check the save location and select the file type.
Click OK.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue automatically if you are still having issues.
Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows.
