I don't have anything between printer and wall socket so that is not the issue. I have only just taken the printer out of the box even though I have had it for some time (Over a year). I've checked the glass plate and the backing plate and they are spotless. The scans are very dark with the original image just discernable it being masked by dark shading all over the page and sometimes thin colour bars or black lines over that.
I've done everything in the video clip twice to no avail. I don't think the scanner light bar is operating at the correct intensity. It's nowhere near as bright as on oher scanners I have had.
I will try HP Australia to see what they can suggest.
