I just purchased an OfficeJet 8600 which has a similar issue.
Basically, when scanning to a local drive, the printer provides a ~20 second window to reply to the "Do you have another page to scan" question. When answering "yes," you are given another ~20 seconds to respond to the "Place the next page on the scanner..." request. Considering I'm scanning small receipts (multiple per page), this time limit causes a rather unnecessary stress. And, scanning the images to separate files really negates one of the devices key selling features for me.
Is there anything which can be done to solve this? It sounds like the problem spans a wide range of devices. I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about this honestly.
