I actually read a possible fix that only instructed me to unplug the power cord and then plug it back in after 10 seconds. It worked. Next time (and it sounds like there will be a next time) if unplugging and replugging the power cord alone does not work, I will try removing and replacing the ink cartridges at the same time. This has been the best printer; I was really surprised when I got out my manual and found the receipt showing that I purchased it on Nov. 29, 2001. I went to the HP support website and decided not to pay for the information; it might have cost more at this point than the printer is worth. Thank you for your expertise. Since you work for HP, I feel like I got probably the same expert advice for free that I wasn't willing to pay for. The internet is a wonderful thing!
