The problem isn't Apple. It's Easy Scan and its parent, HP. When they started their piece of shareware, which is when they stopped actually being an "all-in-one" device, they knew full well that Apple updated to new OSs regularly. So, they apparently walked away from the job, or their parent company, HP, decided that Apple users were not a large enough bunch of people to bother with.


A company should be able to accommodate their base. Their base which expects responsible behavior from them.

 

The way to treat customers is NOT to walk away from them when there is a new OS. And not bothering to inform those customers is a sign of HP's disrespect of a large piece of their customer base.


I will be buying another brand of computer Saturday, after 15 years of buying only HP devices.

I have reached the customer support--he suggests that it may be that I had non-HP ink cartridges in the machine. I will replace those and try again. Thanks for your efforts.

wanting to scan a document from the printer/scanner. in hpsmart getting printer status unknown mess.  after pressing scan tab i get a scanning is currently unavailable message

I'm getting an error 30.01.57 on a hp laserjet mfp m631 when I  use the copy function I get the error 30.01. 57 then the printer feezes and it doesn't print or copy I have to shut down the printer to work again. I already changed the scanner control board, and same problem.

Win 10 cant access G3110 scanner

After latest update to Win 10 64-bit, Windows will not access my USB G3110 flatbed scanner. Device Manger says the driver is not installed. I've uninstalled and re-installed the downloaded software and driver from HP.com. Installation procedure seems to complete and gives the message that your device is ready to use. Still unable to scan. Device manager does lists the HP scanjet but not the driver. What do I do next?

When turned on, the scanner goes through the initializing process, light comes on so I'm pretty sure the scanner is still operative.

Scan and copy result black pages

While copying a document the output is a totally black page. The same result while scanning documents from the EWS or app for Android "HP SMART".

The printing process is OK.

Motor and light bar is working fine.

I've tried to disconnect for 60 seconds the power cord but nothing changed.

I've tried to reset to factory default settings but same results.

At this point I'm thinking about a hardware issue and warranty is expired 1 month ago.

HP Scan software started to run very slowly

Since last Windows update (but not necessarily immediately after) the "HP Scan" software is taking 30+ seconds to load and after scanning several minutes (not exaggerating) to navigate in the file save dialog. 

Printing is fine.

I am using a recent PC with heaps of resources with no other speed issues.

The software has worked fine on the same PC for years.  This just happened recently

I have not changed antivirus or firewall software or settings.

 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers as per recommendations for similar problems with no change.  I am aware of HP Smart Scan but that does not have the features of the original HP Scan software, like scanning double sided.

Any help most appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the print quality issue. 

 

To better assist you - 

 

1) Are you using genuine HP inks? 

2) Are you experiencing this issue while making a copy as well? 

3) What's the application that you are trying to print from? 

4) May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc. Is this an HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 printer? 

 

While you respond to that, try these steps - HP OfficeJet Printers - Fixing Print Quality Problems

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

I understand you have issues with scanning to network folder on your computer, this could be an issue with connectivity or the settings.

 

Firstly, update the printer firmware. Download available firmware updates from the HP website. With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

 

If the issue persists, try resetting the scan to network folder and try again.

 

For further assistance, may I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

What happens when you make a photocopy?

Did you make any changes to the printer or the computer recently?

 

If you are experiencing any print quality issues, print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page to help identify the source of the issue.

  1. Load plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel home screen, swipe left, and then touch Setup.

  3. Swipe up, touch Print Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

    A Print Quality Report prints.

Under test pattern 3, if you do not see any colors follow the steps from the document Color or Black Ink is Not Printing.

 

If there are colors in the report, we may have to change the drivers on your computer.

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

  • Are the printer and PC connected to the same network?
  • Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz?
  • What is the distance between the router and the printer?
  • Is there any antivirus software installed on your computer?
  • Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results?

Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.

 

The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera. Share the ping test results and the screenshot with us.

 

Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'. 

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

What happens when you scan a single-sided document?

Have you tried a different application like Apple Image Capture to scan the documents?

Scanjet 5590 driver install on Windows 10 in 2019

So, I struggled with installing my scanner after a HDD malfunction.

The software kept getting stuck.

The apparent problem was the outdated flash install program.

What seemed to do the trick for me is UNINSTALLING GPU DRIVERS, and then installing scanner software, and only then reinstalling GPU drivers.

If the issue persists while making a copy but not while printing from a PC, then it is a possible hardware issue with the scanner mechanism. Please contact our HP Support team for Service Options:

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.

6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Document Feeder Freezes

The document freezes after feeding anywhere between 7 to 15 pages, and 2 pages at times.

Assuming that the printer is connected wirelessly, I'd suggest you follow the steps below-

 

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website. With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

 

Assign manual IP to the printer-

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here. For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

 

If the issue persists, try adding a TCP/IP port-

  1. Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
  2. Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab and then click Add Port.
  3. Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
  4. Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
  5. Try scanning

No the pink and yellow are not printing on the report and I have all hp cartridges in it.  It also will not let me apply changes when I set it to print in color.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the scanning issue. 

 

HP Easy Scan is currently not fully compatible with macOS Catalina. We're actively working to restore complete functionality. Scan using Apple Image Capture as a workaround.

Thanks for replying! Missing colors on the report could be a sign of hardware failure. 

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer/replacement ink
