Re: Scan Software (NOT HP SMART)
Scanner not working
My printer suddenly isn't scanning anymore. It keeps showing an alignment issue but won't let me align anything because the scanner component was broken. I've tried the hp diagnostic and restarting everything. The diagnostic said there was a driver error.

Re: Fingerprints on Scanner?
I just used black powder as an example, you need something that would enhance the contrast. If you are wanting to try and take fingerprints there is likely better ways to do it.

Re: HP Envy Photo 7155-scanning
Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
What app or software are you using to scan? HP Smart or the HP FULL software scan?
Can try the HP FULL software solution? Download and install from this link:
After that, try the HP Scan from the FULL software.

Re: How to fax on a go smart photo 7520 printer
You did connect your printer to a telephone line or you are using fax app?
Re: cannot scan with HP Smart (windows 10) via wifi
Our team is still working on resolving the issue.
I recommend you all to try the alternate method for scanning till the issue is resolved.
You refer to my posts above for instructions on the same.
Have a nice day!
Re: Scanning with an OfficeJet All-in-One using Webscan through the browser Chrome on a Chromebook
I was able, yesterday, to get Mozilla's browser Firefox installed on my Lenovo Chromebook C340-11; I followed the procedure adumbrated in Mozilla's article "Run Firefox on ChromeOS", which can be found by searching the Worldwide Web for that title. After installing Firefox, I was able to scan from the HP 6958 OfficeJet All-in-One, using its Embedded Web Server, to my Lenovo C340-11 Chromebook, using the procedure that you set forth in your response to my plea for help. The last snare to attend to was to allow pop-ups with Firefox. In sum, your suggestion to try some browser other than Google's browser Chrome was helpful--thanks.
Re: Fax doesnt work
Hi @Racermom,
I'd like to help!
What is the error you receive when you run a fax test?
Please check the connections -
Check the connection
Check for phone line connection issues that might be causing failed sent faxes.
Call the fax number you are sending to from a phone: If you do not hear fax tones, the receiving fax machine might be turned off or disconnected.
Confirm the fax setup: There are two phone ports on the rear the printer labeled 1-Line and 2-Ext. Connect the phone line to the 1-Line port, and connect the answering machine to 2-Ext.
Go to HP Printers - How to Fax for steps to set up your printer.
Check the phone line: Connect a phone to the wall jack and try to make a call. If the call fails or there is no dial tone, check if another phone or device is keeping the line open. Additionally, if you hear static, there might be interference from nearby electrical appliances (motors, fans, kitchen appliances, or televisions) and/or coax cables, or there is an issue with the line quality that requires attention from your phone service provider.
Use the fax cord that shipped with your printer: HP fax-capable printers ship with a two-wire phone cord. If you are using a different cord, confirm the connector does not have four wires. Shorter, higher quality cords work better than longer cords of lesser quality.
Remove other devices from the phone line: Devices such as answering machines, modems, or other telephones might cause faxing issues.

Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Scanner skips pages
When scanning using the document feeder in the HP SMART app, sometimes random pages are skipped. .For instance, yesterday I scanned a four page document. Page 2 did not scan. I did not receive any error messages. I also scanned a 6 page document. Pages 4 and 5 were skipped. I was not using two sided scanning for either document
my computer specs are as follows:
Pavillion 590 desktop w/Intel i7-870, 32GB DDR4 memory, 1 terrabyte SSD drive, 2GB AMD Radeon RX560 graphics, Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
Any help would be appreciated!

Re-Creating Printer Control Panel shortcuts
Ok - this is an update to my previous post that "died" without a satisfactory ending
Background & Historical stuff:
I have an HP MFP M477fdw, (and before that, an HP MFP M425)
Both of these MFPs have a Touch sensitive LCD Display Panel, where options may be set, and actions performed
I use Windows 10 and my printer is connected via Lan - NOT USB or WiFi
When I first installed these printers, the advice was to install the "Full Solution Software" which I did (from the CD that came with the printer)
Before Installing the Software, the Printer's Display Panel "Scan" Menu Option had sub-menu options of:
"Scan to USB Drive, Scan to Network Folder, and Scan to E-mail"
After installing, the Printer's Display Panel "Scan" Menu Option had an extra sub-menu option of: "Scan to Computer"
As time went by...
HP released New Drivers, New Full Solution Firmware, and New Firmware - all of which I installed
Somewhere along the way, I noticed that my printer(s) had "Lost" their "Scan to Computer" Option
After repeated Installs & un-installs, I now believe I have the cause and a solution
The Cause:
The Software on the CD is NOT the the Full Solution Software
The Software on the CD installs the "Scan to Computer" Option
The Full Solution Software does NOT install the "Scan to Computer" Option
The Solution: (in brief)
Install the Full Solution Software...
In my case, the Full Solution installed a printer named "HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 PCL6"
Next - in Windows 10 > Settings > Devices, Printer & Scanners, Click on "Add a printer or scanner"
Windows will "Discover" a printer named "HPM477 (HP Color LaserJet MFP M477fdw)" - note the slightly different name
You should now see "Scan to Computer" has been added to the Printer's Display Panel "Scan" option
(You may have to restart the printer)
Selecting the "Scan to Computer" option, should expand to display furthur options of:
Scan to yourcomputername
Scan for Print to yourcomputername
Scan for E-mail to yourcomputername
Scan for Fax to yourcomputername
Scan for OCR to yourcomputername
I hope this helps
I also hope HP Support read this, because they told me it couldn't be done
p.s. just to emphasise:
This Guide ONLY concerns initiating a scan via the printer's Display Panel, to your PC
You may also whish to change your Printing Preferences & Defaults for 2-Sided Printing etc.

Re: Scanning with an OfficeJet All-in-One using Webscan through the browser Chrome on a Chromebook
Excellent.
I have been using Firefox since the beginning of Firefox - Firefox is one of the two browsers I having running. The browser is configurable and accessible.
I am glad that Firefox has provided needed access to Webscan from your Chromebook.

Re: Hi all I suddenly couldnt scan to my emaill address on my laptop.
Hi @aitchb,
I'd like to help!
To better assist -
- What is the exact analysis of the print scan doctor?
- Are you able to make copies using the printer?
Meanwhile, let's try a reset on the printer -
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Try and make a copy with the scanner lid up and check if the scanner bar lights up and if it moves.
If the scanner bar lights up and moves, then try the below steps -
Check Windows Image Acquisition settings
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is a Windows service that helps communication between the computer and scanners. If WIA is not activated, scan jobs can fail.
1. In Windows, search for and open View local services .
2. In the Services window, scroll down the list and find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) .
3. Look at the Status and Startup Type values.
If the status is Started or Running and the Startup Type is Automatic, WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.
If the status is Disabled or no status displays, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu, and then click Start.
If the Start button is grayed out, go back to the Services menu, make sure Remote Procedure Call, Shell Hardware Detection, RPC Endpoint Mapper, and DCOM Server Process Launcher are running and set as Automatic, and then start WIA.
try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

C480W scanner problem
Hello,
My scanner is suddenly showing noise in a band of when scanning blank page. The rest of the page is OK.
- If setting to black and white only: The band is black
- If setting to level of grays: The band is grey, with some pattern
- If setting to color and scanning colored colored sheet: The pattern can be seen better in the band. The same pattern appears whatever colored test sheet I scanned (Green, Blue, Yellow, Red). Scanner is measuring a pattern or something for each color the CCD sensor in each color in each color seems not dead but .
The pattern lines spacing and angle change if changing scanning setting definition (from 300 dpi to 2400 dpi). In optics that is typical of "moiré fringes", thus I suspect an optical problem in the scanner, but only in a specific band of the CCD sensor or in internal mirror. Very strange. See attached capture of the affected band, tested with a green test paper. Please share any identical case and solution.
Re: Scanner skips pages
Watch closely to the paper feeding in while scanning, it is possible that the separation pad that is supposed to ensure only one page at a time is getting worn and allowing 2 pages to stick together. If you happen to have a feature called blank page skip it could be that there is not enough information on a page for the scanning software to recognize that the page is not blank.
