The printer is powered up by direct connection to a wall plug. The printer was copying and scanning correctly up until I posted this message. I have checked the firmware and the on-board update confirms that the latest firmware is installed.
I have attempted a factory reset and this has not corrected the problem. As mentioned the scanner operates during the "start-up" phase but does not move during "preview" of copying or scanning mode.
I have looked for ways to completely reload all firmware for the printer but have not found the means to do so.
Could this actually be a hardware issue?
