I am having touble generating output of scanned docs (in any format) from HP Scan using the "Save" or "Send" commands.
When I try and save the doc as a pdf or tiff, I get an error "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to. Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only". I am writing to my desktop which has no permission restrictions and I am writing to a new file, so no existing file permissions to worry about.
When I try and "send" it to an email to send, it seems to send it to the operating system to do something with and thinks it7s done. But the process just launches an empty Mac robot app and doesn&t launch an email.
Both these problems have only happened recently and I have successfully used HP Scan many times in the past. But now it is useless!
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hardware: iMac 27-inch, Late 2009
OS: OSX 10.9.2
anything else required that would help?
