Hi,

Open the Estimated Ink Levels from the software and go to the Device Information tab.

What is the listed software version?

If the software version is lower than 28, close the software and uninstall it by going to Start > Programs > HP > HP Officejet Pro 8500 > Uninstall.

Next download and isntall the latest software which should add the required fature:
