A couple of days ago the HP Scan and Capture program just would not open.  Click on the icon and the start screen appears for 3-10 seconds, and then closes.  I was working fine for two years previously.  The HP Print and Scan Doctor provides no help.  Can someone help?

Re: RAW Print support on HP LaserJet Professional M1213nf MFP

As far as I can make out, the LaserJet Professional M1213nf device does not support any of the 'traditional' Page Description Languages (PCL5, PCL6 (PCL XL), PostScript).

According to this specification page:

Capture.PNG

Host-based languages are usually proprietary (the manafacturer does not release detailed specifications).

With such languages, the host workstation does all the hard work of transforming source objects (text, images, etc.), into a series of encapsulated, compressed, raster images;  the printer just unencapsulates and uncompresses these images, and prints the resultant dots.

Hello, - Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand your printer is having issues while scanning. To assist you with this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.

Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.

If the copy works fine, then the printer hardware is fine and the issue could be with the printer drivers. Try the steps listed below to try and fix the issue:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control Panel – Devices and Printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now clickhttp://hp.care/2o1bRj3 to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck Smiley Happy

Hi @lou1908,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that
the scanner stops when trying to use Transparent materials adapter (TMA) for negatives.

This issue could occur if the scanning is not done properly.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

And here are a few steps in the link: Scanning Slides and Negatives

You may also check the TMA specifications in the link: Product Specifications

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Hello, - Greetings!

Thanks for accessing the HP Support Forums for extra support! I see that you are experiencing trouble while scanning using the Apple Image Capture. I will do my best to assist you with this issue Smiley Happy

I would suggest you use “HP Easy Scan” so that you can scan from your computer. HP Easy Scan is a free app from the App Store with tools to scan documents and photos to a Mac running OS X 10.9 or later. Please install it here: http://apple.co/2lsPpwU

Also, check http://hp.care/2d75fhX to get detailed instructions to scan and also to change the settings while scanning.

Please let me know whether that works for you. Thank you!

Cheers Smiley Happy

Hi @Susanne2000,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing scan quality issues with your
HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer.

This issue could occur if the firmware is not updated.

I suggest that you update the firmware from the link: Firmware Update

You may also check the link: Fixing Scan Quality Issues

You may also try scanning using a different scanning software from the link: How to Scan from the Computer (Windows)

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Hi Robot,

thank you for the detailled procedure, it tried but it did not solve theproblem.

Is it possible to go to step two ?:

" Since the steps to perform semi full reset is confidential, I will send you the steps in a private message. Please watch your inbox for more information."

Looking forward to your email on semi full reset ...

Otherwise I noticed that when I tried to set the wireless function the key P on the keyboard isnot available it always tapes O instead, I even tried with a narrow plastic tool not to overlap keys.

Thank you Robot !

Hi @christine-newb1 ,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the fax received is blank if the original document is kept on the flatbed scanner.

This issue could occur if the flatbed scanner is not working.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

I suggest that you make a copy from the flatbed scanner and see if it works.

If the copy is fine, then you need to follow the steps from document mentioned in the link: Fixing Fax Quality Issues

If the copy is blank, then it is a hardware issue with the scanner.

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Hi,
From your Applications folder or its HP subfolder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan application, delete it by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.

Next install the latest HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed within the Applications folder:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_8_1.pkg

If you experience any further issues, ensure the latest software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

Regards,
Shlomi

Hi,

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

The following resource will help you :

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

It should be able to scan both sides, though you will have to manually reinsert the document on the ADF to scan the second side.  The software will arrange it automatically.

Please watch this resource on how this is done:

HP Officejet Pro 6960 series : Scan a 6 pages 2 sided document using the ADF

(different printer but the steps are the same)

If you have not installed the FULL feature software, this wizard will help you:

The following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

If you would like to scan both sides automatically, HP Officeje tPro 697x series will be able to do that. Similarly, the HP Officejet Pro 8700 AiO Series would also be able to do that.

HP Officejet Pro 6970 series : Scan a 10 pages 2 sided document using the ADF

For more scanning resources: please click here.

Hope that helps!
