If you have not done so, consider cleaning the ADF area and the ADF rollers.

The procedure for cleaning the ADF / rollers is including in this document:

 Improving Scan Quality

Consider

  • The paper you are using to scan the document may be too dry, too thin, or an odd size not supported by the ADF.
  • The ADF may not support the paper size you are scanning for "duplex" or two-sided scanning.

Scanning from Printer- always prompts for scanner driver

$

I am trying to configure my HP Envy 7855 printer to allow scanning from the printer ADF to the desktop, but when I attempt to do this, and select my desktop on the printer, the desktop prompts me for a scanner driver to choose from and HP is not an option on the list. I went from using HP Smart on the desktop to downloading the full web pack (HP ENVY Photo 7800 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers) hoping this would solve the problem. This is not a showstopper, but it sure would be nice to make it so this works either way. I was unable to find an option in the preferences to select scan from printer, and when I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor, it suggested a later software version to download, but when it popped up the available printers it listed the 7855 as "not applicable." I am not sure what kind of software it was attempting to install, but I was hoping maybe there was a way to install just an HP scanner driver but there is no option for this as it is contained in the full install for the printer, which I already completed. TIA!

Printer has bene working fine, but recently it stopped mid-copy with error code OXB90A2FF4. Now it either won't come after warming up, on or I get the error code OXB1340D511. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, and it makes about 4 copies then stops. I've also had the error code OXB8343132. PC says it can't communicate with the device although it's showing as installed, so won't print, scan or anything.

Re: Unable to scan via wifi Mac OS 10.14.6

, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Try the solutions below, and then try to add your printer to HP Easy Scan.

  • Update HP Easy Scan: Open HP Easy Scan. On the upper bar, click HP Easy Scan, click Check for Updates, and then install any available updates.

Checking for updates in HP Easy Scan

  • Run Apple Software Update: Click the Apple menu , click System Preferences, and then search for and install any available updates.

If none of the above solutions worked, try scanning with another app, such as Apple Image Capture.

Scan with Apple Image Capture

Apple Image Capture comes with macOS and OS X and provides a quick and simple way to scan.

 Apple Image Capture

  1. Place the document or photo print side down on the scanner glass, and then close the scanner lid.

If your printer has an automatic document feeder (ADF), use it to scan multiple page documents at one time.

  2. Open Finder , and then click Go in the top menu bar.

  3. Click Applications, and then double-click Image Capture.

  4. Click your printer name in the Devices or Shared list.

  5. Click Show Details at the bottom of the screen.

A preview of the scan displays, and then change any of the following settings:

    • Scan Mode: Select the scanning bed or automatic document feeder.

    • Kind: Set scan as color, black and white, or optimized for text only documents.

    • Resolution: Higher resolution produces better quality images by using more dots (pixels) per inch. Higher resolution increases the file size of the scan. Use a higher resolution for scans with graphics or items that require the best detail. If you are scanning black and white text, higher resolution is not necessary.

    • Size: Use a standard paper size or select the Use Custom Size option.

    • Scan to: Select the folder you want scans to save to or use the Mail option to attach the scan to an Apple Mail email message.

    • Name: Type a name for the saved scan file.

    • Format: Select the file type for the scan.

      NOTE:

To save multiple page documents or multiple images into a single file, select the PDF or TIFF format, and then select the box next to Combine into single document. This feature is only available with these formats.

    • Image Correction: Click the pop-up menu, and then select Manual to display color change options such as brightness and saturation.

  6. Click Scan.

Let me know if this helps.

Assign manual IP to your printer-

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

To be able to provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:

Is it a shared fax line or a dedicated line?

Is the internet connected to the same line?

Do you have a voice mail on your line?

Are you able to receive faxes?

Additionally, print a fax test report to identify any issues with the printer, phone line connection, or fax settings. On the printer control panel, locate Run Fax Test or Fax Test Report in the Fax or Setup menus.

Keep me posted of further assistance.
