The document here has troubleshooting steps for ADF feed failures. I would guess the error you are seeing is because the switch that detects paper in the ADF has become jammed, making the printer think there is a document in the ADF. In this case the document on the glass would be ignored and the printer would attempt to feed the document from the ADF.

HP LASERJET PRO 200 COLOR MFP M276nw deleting files on scans to network.
Hello,
I am experiencing recently when you scan to network from the control panel of the printer that the scanned file vanishes after the printer has completed. This problem seems to be associated with using the document feeder as the file does not delete itself if you scan from the flatbed. Also, if you uninstall the printer software the problem seems to dissapear but then you cannot print to the device. Once the drivers are reloaded then its back to deleting files scanned to network from the document feeder.
Also, this printer seems to have an issue authorizing itself to our AT&T email server if you check the Requires Authentication box. With the box unchecked it works fine however we can only send scans to emails to anyone on our email domain but not to the outside world because AT&T requires you to authenticate yourself. Once you check the Authentication Required and put in your username and password the save and test fails with username or password not correct. THIS problem does not appear to be tied to this one particular printer as I have 3 of these printers in our company that all do the same thing so I assume its a firmware issue. I've updated to the latest firmware for the printer with the same issues on both complaints. (Please note that we have several devices utiliizing the AT&T server with the exact same settings as I put into the printer and it works fine on them so please do'nt tell me that it is a AT&T Issue, I've even gone as far as setting my outgoing profile to send through GMAIL with the same issues.)
Note: I did notice on the scan to network that after the first page is fed through the document processor there's a slight pause then it starts again even though there is no paper in the document feeder.

OfficeJet J4680 will not scan to text
All-in-One setup does not include scan to text option (front panel or Solution Center). I downloaded the full software package twice, with same result. I'm Using 8.1, also tried compatibility for Win 7. Is there no OCR software in this driver? If not, can I use a different driver?

Hi,
The printer software does include OCR functionality.
From the HP Solution Center click on Scan Document.
Select Scan as Editable Text and then press the Scan button.
If a such does not appear select Everyday scanning and set the file type in the right pane as RTF, then press on Scan.
If any of those aren't listed, have you installed the Read Iris OCR software? you may go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program and search for HP, a such should be listed as IRIS OCR.
If there are no results run the software installation by selecting Add Additional Software and select the IRIS OCR software, then follow the installation and try again, you may get the software from teh followign link:

Try scanning via the HP Easy Scan, by clicking Scan and expending the settings it should allow two sided scanning:

Thank you for your reply. I did perform the test with plugging the fax line into the 1-line port and plugging the phone into 2-ext. Unfortuntately I did not get a dial tone, just some very soft even static. This test was peformed with the phone lines coming from the cable box. I'm assuming that doesn't matter, or should it have been done with a regular analog land line?

I also have this same issue, having just upgraded to Yosemite. I've contated Apple support and the sharing is working from both a PC and Macbook. I've the latest firmware but Apple believe a firmware update is required from HP to allow it to work with Yosemite.
I've tried restarting SMB protocol
New shared folder setup
I've setup a shared folder on a PC - this works.

Ok I got download to run. It took 10 to 15 minutes. Got message at end of update that "Update Failed"and requested I run a second time.
Second time I tried, the Update could not find my printer to attempt to run the update a second time. Any further ideas?

Thanks for the reply.
Regrettably the short version is that I've bought something that is not very good in the scanning department. Clearly you do not buy a tool to do a job, and then use another tool to do the job. I will look for another printer with better scanning capabilities. This is a shame, having a bigger draft screen (as in my previous HP model) is not difficult, and cutting it down for this model saves HP how much in production?

This is a very confusing pagel I started by noteing my english was not good. You ask me a guestion about the system but there was no place to enter it, so I guess you donrt care whatI use.
I looked at your response but I see nothing about how to make my copies. I fail to see what my id and password have to do with my queston. I cannot give good feed back to any site that wants to play 20 questions with me.
I case you are still intersted in solving my problem I am useing windows seven and 8 and maybe some XP on one of my pcs. As I noted my HP printer copies great. I also noted my only problem was a human one.
This is supposed to be a help page but it is a no help to me. It is full of junk that has nothong to do with the issue.. This is a no help page and only makes me unhappy that a supposed expert cannot answer a simple question.
I am surprised rthat you didnt habve me check the powercord. That is the most commom advice I get from experts on the net.
I was serious when I said I dont speak english. Based on the answers I usually see the readers cannot read engish.
If I sound frustratd I am. Microsoft has the worst help pages on the net. Ther standard answer for all questions is check the connection then go to the net. For some reason no one seems to understand if I could reach the net I would not havt the problem.

Re: 2-sided copy on OfficeJet 4630
THIS is the problem - it does not work that way - at least on my 4630:
From the ADF I load the 2-sided doc. I want to copy.
After selecting OK to 2 -sided on the printer
And then OK to START BLACK copy
It copies the first side of the doc
When it comes out under the ADF or finishes - I take it and place the second side face up as before
Meanwhile the printer says "INK DRYING" - so I can't press anything (Even if I do nothing happens)
Then the COPY that came out goes BACK up into the printer as it should I assume
And then spits right back out again - NOTHING on the second side
Meanwhile the Second side of the doc that I put in the ADF goes through the ADF - and then comes back out.
It does not do 2-sided copying as per the instructions.
Please advise
and YES I am under warranty - this is a NEW printer for me - replacemnet for the 4620 which had the BLACK INK problem.
