I have had my Envy 5530 for about a year, and used the the scanner frequently. It has recently not been possible. The computer thinks it isn't connect, but it must be connected, or else the printer wouldn't work.

I have tried to follow the suggestions, but to no avail. I got this message :

So when I clicked on that, I got this page. What do I need to do to scan again?

In my "detail scan shortcut settings" I show a similar box to the one on the right (and my box on the left looks pretty-much like what you show.)  I have made sure that the box "create a separate file for each scanned page" is unchecked.  Doesn't make any difference.  It never has had a check mark in it.

Catastrophic crash with data loss after HP Scan driver installed

Two weeks ago I downloaded the latest HP Scan Driver on my brand new iMac and after a system restart the iMac refused to boot back up in *any* mode.  I brought it back to Apple and they tried everything to boot the system up but nothing worked, and it required a complete erase and new OS install.

 

Has anyone else had this kind of a catastrophic crash with *any* HP scanning driver?  What/if anything has been found to be the problem?

Paper mismatched error message

Getting this message when trying to copy a document at the printer:  Paper mismatched.  Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected.  Make sure the paper size or tyoe is correct to continue the  job.

I do not have this problem when printing a docement from my laptop.

 

 

printer not scanning

My printer won't scan. It goes through the process but the page comes out blank. I am low on my cartridges would this cause the problem.

Hello! Thank you MKazi for the information.  Unfortunately, the file that I saved is still all black.  I was able to make a color copy.  I went to the Adjust screen and put it in color mode...it was in black and white mode.  I'm not really sure what to change for exposure and noise.  I have never touched these settings even when the scanner was working.   Any other things I can try?

Also, Mkazi, when I tried emailing the file, this is the message I received:

"An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.  Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only."

HP 7640 all screwed up after tech support tried to help me

 It started off as a simple issue. I replaced my printer cartridges with new ones & tried to run the align test. It said aligment test failed & wouldn't run it. It was annoying to get that "align cartridge" message pop up every time I went to print something & I'd have to click to not align. But at least everything on the printer worked.

 

I should have left well enough alone but of course I didn't. I called tech support & they remotely deleted & reinstalled the printer & new software. Well after being on the phone forever with them they got the align error message to go away but the solution center wouldn't work anymore. The tech said "No worries, you have one built in when you click on the  printer shortcut". Ok, great...but he couldn't get the fax to open & fax anymore. He tried repeatedly to work magic but nothing worked.

 

When you click on the "send a fax", nothing happens but if you run a fax test, it passes. He claims it's a hardware problem & I need a new printer.Also, when I tried to run a scan test it says "HP7640 not found". So that tells me it's probably some software problem.

 

I am ready to see if this thing can fly. Does anyone have any ideas?

No Twain complaint device found for scanning (M1005)

I have been trying for weeks now on my new HP M1005 MFp to be able to scan. Printing and copying works fine but I am not able to scan even one item. 

 

I always end up with the error saying "No Twain complaint device found. Please intsall and then scan"

 

I have installed and reinstalled the drivers from Hp website again and again but no changes.

I have tried scanning with firewall disabled but no change.

Hi 

 

Have you installed the FULL feature software?

 

If you have not, the following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/


Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

 

Do note that the Software interface for the Officjet 7610 may be a bit different than what was show for the Officejet Pro 7740 but the steps should be similar.

If the lamp went out, it's likely that the scanner is defective. Are you able to still do a Copy job?

 

If not, then it's defective.

Can you power off the printer, ensure that the scanner lid is closed properly and then pwer up the printer?

 

After that, can you do a copy job?  If the results are still the same as when you scan a document (blank pages), it's likely that the scanner is defective.

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

 

The following resource will help you :

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.


3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

Bummer.... running into the same problems testing a network folder for scan and the above v4 suggestion did not work.

 

It's interesting that the error is "Unable to connect to the printer. Check your configurations and try again." when in fact I am connected to the printer. Smiley Tongue

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try this:

From the Applications folder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan app.
Delete HP Scan or HP Easy Scan by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.

Ensure the latest software is installed, use this link for your printer:

macOS X : HP Easy Scan

Also, make sure that your drivers are up to date

> Click on the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update
>Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.
